Good Things Utah: The rise of women changing landscape of construction jobs

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (Good Things Utah) – This week marks Women in Construction Week. Women are breaking barriers and building the future of the construction industry across the nation and here in Utah. Tonya Timothy and Becky Robinson. Tonya is a project manager at Pentalon Construction. She manages complex construction projects while mentoring women entering the male-dominated industry. Becky Robinson is HR Manager of Big-D Construction, one of the region’s leading construction companies. Becky understands both the workforce pipeline and the real hiring decisions happening in construction. She’s seen a lot more women being hired but says there is room to grow. These women are building Utah’s schools, hospitals, data centers, highways, and multiuse communities. The Salt Lake City chapter represents women across Utah who are: project managers, superintendents, schedulers, engineers, estimators, executives and trade professionals.
